Massimo Citrigno started into the pizzeria business in 1991 at a small location on York Rd. in Dundas, Ontario. At that point in time, the pizzeria was named Amici’s because Massimo had a partner. After operating in partnership for approximately 1 1/2 years Amici’s was sold to Massimo’s partner.
“Mossimo’s Pizza and Subs Ltd.,” was established in Fonthill in 1993, on the corner of South Pelham and Hwy 20 in the old Bank of Commerce Location that was operating as a pizzeria under the name of Pizza Villa. Massimo purchased the equipment only, and that was the start of something beautifully tasty that has changed the way Fonthill looks at Pizza. Massimo’s passion for food helped him to develop the deliciously tasty pizza that is his own recipe!! Mossimo’s Pizza and Subs Ltd. operated as a small eat in but mainly take out business on this corner until the year 2000. It was known for 2 slices and a pop specials that sold for $2.00 way back when!!
It was time to grow and the business relocated to operate at 1440 Pelham street for 14 years doing many dining room renovations to accommodate customer demand! The take out business expanded and the eat in did as well with the acquisition of a liquor license.
Massimo’s current establishment is located at 164 Hwy 20 which includes a full service dining room, full service patio, quick eat in/take out area and, of course, a take out/delivery that services the Niagara Area.
The menu has evolved from pizza, wings and subs to include salads, chicken fingers, nachos, and appetizers including their own Buffalo Chicken Nachos and Buffalo Cauliflower Bites. The bar has also expanded its menu to include some tasty frozen drinks and a variety of beer, coolers and mixed beverages.
This pizzeria has grown throughout the years due to loyalty of the community it services. Mossimo’s Pizza and Subs Ltd. sponsors numerous community teams: baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, volleyball. Mossimo’s Pizza and Subs Ltd. has sponsored many fundraising events and donated to many organizations and schools in Fonthill.
